CHANGE LOG IN PRIMAVERA P6 PROGRAMME
Introduction
Baseline Programme is the initial scheduled programme prepared in order to monitor and control the construction project. The programme comprises of several assumptions and logic. During execution, the planner may realize the logic in the programme is incorrect or can be improved. For this propose, the planning engineer shall maintain change log in the weekly / monthly report.
Definition
Change log is a documentation of the logical changes in the programme for the reference purpose.
Following Field can be changed using change log:
- Relationship - There are four relationship in the programme: SS, FS, FF, SF. The planner can logically change the relationship of the activities if proper justification is provided. For example: A project consist 200 meter of pipe laying and the contractor initial plan was to lay pipe after excavating full 200 m of foundation, In that case, the planner setup FS relation between excavation and pipelaying. However, during excavation the contractor changes his strategy to start laying pipe after excavating 20 m of the foundation. In this case, the planner has an opportunity to enhance their progress or mitigate delay by changing relationship to SS+Lag. However, the process of changing relationship shall be well documented in change log and approval shall be obtained from the Engineer/Client.
- Duration - Duration for an activities can be revised.
- Lag - Lag duration can be revised
- Activity - Activity can be added or suspended
